At my school we have this thing called Consortia Night where these industry people come in and technobabble on for a couple of minutes. Then, when they're done with their self-congratulatory remarks, we have an informal reception of sorts in which the students are led to believe they are actually networking while the industry sharks shop for complacent suckers. That is the gist of the deal. Anyway, I went to the last student council meeting to complain about just about everything that I have been too lazy to complain about during the past four years of college. And while there, the topic of consortia night came up. Hold on, I'm getting to the point. I promise. Anyway, the point is that my department head told us to go out and find speakers for consortia night. Generally speaking, they like people that make video games. The military makes video games. They probably like them. I'm guessing you don't make video games. I'm not sure they will like the idea of you. They don't have much taste I suppose. Anyway, the school being a giant bureaucracy milking us of thirty grand a year for the assumed benefit of a diploma and all, they probably could afford to pay Mr. Hunter S Thompson to show up, speak for a while, maybe mingle with the freshmen girls and then leave. At the very least, I would be willing to supply a bottle of cheap alcohol for the event and a "Club Awesome" t-shirt or sweatshirt or something of the sort. So, if you're interested, let me know and I'll see if I could sucker the school out of the money necessary for the benefit of the presence of Hunter S. Thompson.
